The Heat Transfer Laboratory offers basic and technical understanding of heattransfer modes, such as conduction, convection and radiation, and their implementation. Heat and mass transfer lab is equipped with relevant equipment to study different aspects of heat transfer. The Heat and Mass Transfer lab work, either interdependently or jointly with other departments, help in creating new machines and processes for food processing industries.

Thermodynamic is one of the basic course for agricultural engineering student. This lab is well equipped with all thermal instruments and equipment’s like, Fire tube and Water tube Boilers, Various Boiler Mountings, Various properties of Fuels like Flash Point, and Calorific Value of fuel by using Bomb Calorimeter.

The Crop Processing Lab is well equipped with equipment to perform laboratory experiments and to demonstrate various unit operations in the field of agricultural process engineering. This laboratory is structured to impart knowledge to students in the latest innovative technologies in the field of food process engineering, like food preservation, handling of perishables, value-addition of agricultural and horticultural commodities, packaging technology. Various agricultural processing operations can be demonstrated with existing facilities, such as drying, parboiling, extrusion, puffing, rice processing, seed purification, freezing, packing, and testing. The Crop Processing laboratory covers research needs on the identification and recording of the pre and post-harvest processes taking place in crops, fruits and vegetables.

The post harvest tehnology centre has 500 LPH ready to serve line and canning line for fruits and vegetables which have been installed for demonstration and raining to students and entrepreneurs and also to run the experiential module "student ready programme". The facility also includes cold storage unit and fruit ripening chamber.



The department has established dal milling unit of Osaw make havinf capacity 1 tonne per hour which is used for training and demonstration to students and farmers. 



Bamboo Handicraft and Art Unit (BHAU) sanctioned by Ministry of Revenue and Forest, Government of Maharashtra to Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth (MPKV), Rahuri  has been established at MPKV, Rahuri and inaugurated on 5th October 2018. Art unit is having capacity to train 20 students per batch. Objectives of the unit are as follows.

  1. Organisation of training for Skill development.
  2. Improving the skill of local Bamboo craftsman with the use of new technologies.
  3. Value addition and improvement of utilization of bamboo.
  4. Generation of self-employment in Bamboo sector at local level.
  5. Inspiring the research and development related to bamboo.
  6. Development of skilled manpower.
