Recommendation
It is recommended that ridges and furrows of 60 cm width should be prepared for rainfed Soybean crop cultivation for optimum crop yield and rainwater harvesting in scarcity region of Maharashtra.
The location specific constants of rainfall Intensity-Duration-Frequency relationship developed for Aurangabad, Buldhana and Parbhani stations can be updated after 5 years for Akola station after 10 years and for Amravati station after 15 years.
Harvesting of the runoff in farm pond during rainy season and utilization of harvested water as protective irrigation during 35 to 41 MW (27th August to 14th October) for Kharif crop during the dry spells at flowering stage and or for rabi crops during the dry spells at initial development stage in scarcity zone of Maharashtra is recommended.
The bamboo spp. Dendrocalamus strictus is recommended for planting for effective control of small and medium types of gullies in combination with regular structures on hill slopes of watershed area.
The location constants K, a, b and d in rainfall intensity-frequency-duration relationship have been recommended as 3.58, 0.1878, 0.6 and 0.8408 respectively for Jalgaon region.
The location specific constants of rainfall Intensity-Duration-Frequency relationship developed for Rahuri station can be updated after 10 years and for Solapur station after 5 years.
It is recommended that Mula river water at downstream side of Mula Dam from Rahuri Khurd to Panegaon contains higher E-coli Pathogenic bacteria as per BIS Standards. Hence river water at downstream side of Mula dam is not suitable for drinking purpose.
The Hydrological Index Method (Modified Tennant method) is recommended for allocating Environmental flow requirement on monthly basis. Furthermore based on Modified Tennant method, the Effective Flow Requirement (EFR) at Mula dam and Panegaon be as depicted in the following table for sustaining riverline ecology.
The location constants K, a, b and d in rainfall intensity-frequency-duration relationship for Pandharpur region have been recommended as 3.08, 0.2295, 0.8 and 0.9573 respectively.
The revised location constants K, a, b and d in rainfall intensity-duration-return period relationship for Kolhapur region have been recommended as 3.8472, 0.1745, 0.20 and 0.7959 respectively.
